About us

Philip Avonds Scale Jets is a small company specialised in the manufacturing and the worldwide mail order of R/C jet kits and jet related items. As such, we prefer to deal direct with our customers. This keeps the prices down, but most important, we have direct contact with the jet modeller for any after sales service required. Most of the manufacturing is outsourced locally to very dedicated people who take pride in their job. This results in high quality components in our kits.

Our line of jet models has gained a worldwide reputation of excellent design: they are easy to build, easy to fly and easy to maintain. See Jet Kits section for more detailed info on the contents of our kits.

Philip Avonds started his jet kit manufacturing company back in 1987 following his scale competition successes with his twin Ducted Fan powered F-15C Eagle model. The first kit was of course the F-15, later to be followed by the Rafale A, F-104G and F-16 kits. Competition successes with the F-15 were accumulated in the next years: World Champion in1988, European Champion in 1989 and again World Champion in 1990. Philip managed to combine running his company with a job as SAR helicopter pilot in the Belgian Air Force. This was done full time till 1998 and part time until his official retirement on 01 January 2004. Being retired now allows him to run his company even better than before (this website is one result), and to dedicate more time to his family but also to some future projects.
